The National Mejorana Festival is one of Panama‘s most important folkloric event and unites year after year all cultural and traditional currents of the entire country.
This important folkloric-traditional even receives its name in honor of the musical instrument called the mejorana – the most prominent and authentic instrument of the region.
During the folkloric festival with the goal of rescuing and promoting our country’s traditions and culture, a series of musical presentations, competitions, folkloric dances, traditional singing, bull fights, popular dances and many other folkloric expressions are held.
One of the most important events of the National Mejorana Festival is the traditional ox cart parade; a traditional parade that exhibits different traditions of Panama’s countryside, regional music and the stunning beauty of Panamanian women dressed in the pollera – our national dress.
Cubitá Tours is offering a special package with exclusive benefits for you to experience the Mejorana Festival: Joined by Rolando Domingo, expert in polleras and author of the book “El Gran Libro de la Pollera”, we dance in the so called “tuna” and parade the streets of the village of Guararé behind a traditional and beautifully decorated ox cart. There is also a reserved area available in a house directly on the route of the parade where we can rest and enjoy the best views on the decorated carts and the festival itself. Join us and experience Panama’s most authentic traditions combined with a stay at the luxurious Cubitá Boutique Resort & Spa!
